Wednesday Afternoon Update

My forecast is so simple...even Harry and Lloyd understand it.
My forecast is so simple…even Harry and Lloyd understand it.

This Afternoon – Partly Sunny – High 76 / Tonight – Gradual Clearing – Low 58

The shortwave trough and Gulf moisture that combined to bring rain to the region last night and early this morning has advanced to our east/northeast.  This has allowed for a few rays of sun to shine through, which we should see more of as we get later into the afternoon and evening.  Outside of a stray shower, we’ll enjoy a nice remainder of the day.

This photo was submitted by Christina Fisher.  It was taken in Neafus, KY earlier this afternoon.  A wonderful illustration of our improving conditions:

imggBack to scientifics…the model below shows current frontal positions and visible satellite.  As you can see, we’re sandwiched between the cloud deck to our south, and clearing skies to our north:

An upper ridge will begin to build over us tonight, clearing out our skies and setting up nice conditions for the rest of the work week.  This will be a welcomed forecast after the damp conditions we’ve had to deal with today.

Thurs through Sat – Partly to Mostly Sunny – High 80 / Overnight – Clear – Low 58

ridge aloft will maintain control over the region through this time frame, keeping in place nearly identical conditions Thursday through Saturday.  Partly to mostly sunny skies will be the story, friends, with tolerable humidity going along with highs in the lower 80s.  It should be a nice end to the work week, as well as a nice introduction to the weekend.  On Sunday, a cold front looks to advance across south central Kentucky, producing our next opportunity at showers and storms.  I’ll have more details on this in tomorrow morning’s forecast. That will be all for now, folks.  I’ll be back at my usual time tomorrow morning to bring you the latest analysis of how our weather conditions are shaping up.  Have questions or comments?  Don’t hesitate to get in contact with me via Facebook or Twitter for a quick response.  Have a fantastic remainder of your Hump Day, and thanks for relying on ~ Beech Tree Weather!
