Rise and shine south-central Kentucky! Hold on to your hat today since we will be hot and windy as a late night cold front approaches.
Wind Advisory in Effect for Today
Gusty conditions are likely from the late morning hours through the early evening, so watch out for falling tree branches and flying trampolines.
Meanwhile, we will get a taste of summer as highs reach the low 80’s with cloudy skies which will be a real ‘scorcher’ for April.
Cold Front Brings Storms and Change in Pollen Levels
Three days under high pressure has led to extremely high pollen levels (11.7/12), so allergy sufferers keep the tissues and antihistamines handy today.
Although it could bring some storms and a drastic temperature drop, tonight’s cold front will at least try to clean the air of allergens.
Look for the showers and storms to begin around midnight and continue until the main line pushes through early tomorrow morning, just in time for the morning rush (6-8 am). Severe storms appear unlikely, but winds could become quite gusty in the heaviest storms.
Wearing a jacket will be a smooth move as lingering showers could continue into the mid-morning while temperatures remain in the chillier 60’s throughout the day.
Rainy Weekend Ahead
Showers will be possible throughout the day on Saturday while temperatures remain in the 60’s. The rain will intensify overnight Saturday and into Sunday morning before tapering off Sunday night.
Temperatures will take another climb and dive going from highs in the low 70’s on Sunday afternoon to a low in the 40’s on Monday morning. Quiet weather with below average temperatures then looks to continue from Monday to Wednesday of next week.

As always, great forecasting! Looks like I may hiking in the rain at Mammoth Cave’s Wildflower Day this Saturday. At least it’s still warmer weather though. 👍🏻 Have a great day! 😀
