The Headlines
I hope you were able to get out and enjoy yesterday afternoon. Wonderful sunshine along with fall-like, although comfortable temperatures. Unfortunately, that’s the nicest weather we’ll see for awhile…because it’s about to get chilly.
The Details
We start the day off ahead of a cold front that’s been getting itself together over the mid-Mississippi Valley through the day yesterday. This front packs quite the punch…with much cooler temperatures on the back side.
We’ll start out under mostly sunny skies with breezy southwesterly winds but as the front draws closer, we’ll find ourselves overcast…with rain on the way. And that rain is expected to arrive during the afternoon, likely around or just before the rush hour timeframe.
In addition to the rain, it’ll switch our winds around to the west and northwest allowing much colder air to filter into the region throughout the evening. In fact, as the showers come to an end late tonight, there’s a shot at a flake of snow or two falling before the precip ends completely.
Before you rush to the grocery store of your choice and clean out the bread and dairy, this shouldn’t cause too much of an issue since the ground is so warm and we’re not talking about much anyway…but it will look pretty, right?
Today: Mostly sunny to start with clouds increasing, leading to showers late afternoon. High near 62º falling in the late afternoon. Showers continue overnight, with a low falling to around 39º.
- Wake up: 🌤 53°
- Lunch hour: 💨⛅️ 58°
- Afternoon plans: 💨🌧 60°
- Evening time: 🌧 49°
Saturday’s going to be a day best spent inside.
We’ll be firmly behind the front, which means the rain will begin to taper off as we head through the morning, but the cold breeze and chilly temperatures will remain throughout the day.
Needless to say, even without the rain it’s not going to be a great weather for WKU football tailgating tomorrow. But, if you are heading out there to either the tailgate or the game against the Florida Atlantic Owls, make sure you grab the sweatshirt or jacket or whatever you need to keep you warm as the Tops battle the owls.
Otherwise…it’s a great weekend to stay inside and binge watch the new season of Stranger Things.
As we head deeper into the night, clouds should begin to thin and then clear, leading to a high frost potential heading into Sunday…something we’ll keep an eye on.
🔴🏈⚪️Tomorrow⚪️🏈🔴: Showers in the morning, waning towards midday leaving us with mostly cloudy skies and a high around 46º. Skies remain cloudy overnight, with skies trying to clear by daybreak leading to widespread frost, low around 36º.
- Wake up: 🌧 37°
- Tailgating: 🌧/❄️ 46°
- Kickoff: ☁️ 45°
- Headed home: ☁️ 40°
Sunday looks to be a day for improvement.
Our storm system will finally be out of here and after a frosty start, it’ll be quite the nice day…except for the chilly temperatures. Clouds will part and we’ll finally see the sun return to at least attempt to warm us up as we round out the weekend…Sunday will certainly be the pick of the weekend.
Sunday: Frosty to start, otherwise mostly sunny skies with light winds and a high of about 50º. Clear skies at night will allow for more patchy frost with a low right around 35º.
- Wake up: 🌤 38°
- Lunch hour: 🌤 44°
- Afternoon plans: 🌤 49°
- Evening time: 🌤 43°
The Bottomline
- Clouds increase today as a frontal system approaches, bringing us a cool rain that could end as a flake or two.
- Showers end on Saturday, but it’ll still be a cool, raw tailgate for WKU/FAU.
- Skies clear out for Sunday, leaving us with some sun, but highs will struggle to reach 50º.
