Beware of Dangerously Low Wind Chills

Top of the morning! Was that winter storm incredible, or what? (Check out the photo below of tree damage from ice in our neighboring counties!) In today’s post, we will take a look at what to expect for today, the weekend, and the upcoming week!

Today

If you’re out and about this morning, beware of poor travel conditions. Roadways may be slick from lingering accumulations of wintry precipitation. Plan ahead to warm up the car and take it slow on the commute.

Don’t forget to bundle up, too, as wind chills will likely remain in the teens throughout the entirety of the day. This will be thanks to overbearing cloud cover lingering behind the system that brought us wintry trouble yesterday. We encourage the wearing of winter clothing accessories such as scarves and gloves.

The Weekend

For the weekend, high pressure will ease into our region of the country, ridding of the gloom. Expect an influx of sunshine and calm winds. Don’t let that fool you, though, as temperatures will remain seasonally low, with a high around the low 30’s on Saturday and low 40’s on Sunday.

Our main concern will be with dangerously low wind chills that are to take place Saturday morning. These may plummet to the single digits. Any exposed skin should be covered to reduce your risk of cold-related illnesses. Stay warm, WABBLES!

Into the New Week

Into the new week, this trend of dry, sunny, but cold weather will linger. Temperatures will peak around the low 30’s on Monday and Tuesday and the mid-30’s on Wednesday. Nights will be cold, with low’s in the below freezing range. Brrr!

For the end of the week, the Climate Prediction Center predicts that temperatures will be slightly below average and precipitation will be moderately below normal. A break from precipitation? Sign me up!
