Slightly Below Average Temperatures For August

Good morning, everyone! I hope you have all had a great start to this new month so far. Things couldn’t be better in terms of the weather as we experience slightly below average temperatures for August.

Calm Conditions This Week

As a strong low pressure system moves off into the Atlantic in the south, we have high pressure that is dominating our neck of the woods and will continue to do so the remainder of this week.

For a little bit of education, high pressure acts to stabilize the atmosphere, or in other words keep any interesting weather at bay. In fact, there is a saying that goes “the high keeps us dry.” This will ring true for the remainder of the week until this weekend.

In the meantime, for today, tomorrow, and Thursday, expect very calm, quiet conditions. There will be plenty of sunshine and it even won’t feel horrible heat wise as temperatures are actually slightly below normal for this time of the year.

Expect the highs to be in the mid 80s, with low humidity making the air feel much more tolerable than last week. The low temperature for the next few nights will be in the low 60s.

The NAM actually shows a high of 80 degrees for Thursday afternoon. (Pivotal Weather)

Heat and Humidity Returns For the Weekend

By Friday, temperatures unfortunately advance to the low 90s. This paired with elevated dew point temperatures will give us slight storm chances in the afternoons this weekend. Overall, though, it will be mostly sunny, and the plants and gardens will continue to suffer from lack of rain, so make sure to get out there and water especially with this forecast heat.
