Heat Continues to be the Big Event

Good Monday morning everyone! I hope that you all were able to have a wonderful weekend. Now, we have a new week in store, but unfortunately, the heat and humidity are here to stay. Let’s dive into the details below.

Today

The heat sticks around for us today. With highs expected around 91, heat indices will continue to reach near 100. Tomorrow we are also looking at about a 50% chance of pop-up showers and storms. These storms are expected to stay sub-severe, but the main threat would arguably be heavy rain. Since there is not much forcing in the atmosphere, any storms that do develop are likely to sit and move very slowly across the area.

Tomorrow

High temperatures continue to crank up for Southern Kentucky on Tuesday. With highs near 93, the heat just keeps getting worse. Rain chances will diminish dramatically, but please remember heat safety protocols. Try to accomplish all outdoor activities early in the morning, or later in the evening. Stay inside and stay hydrated during the afternoon hours!

The Week Ahead

The heat will stick around for the rest of the week. Wednesday and Thursday still appear to be our hottest days, with highs in the upper 90’s. It would still not surprise me if a heat advisory is needed for these days, since the heat index will be ranging around 100-110. We will continue to fine-tune these details as the event gets closer.

By the weekend, some relief does come to help us out. Highs starting on Friday are expected to drop down to the upper 80’s, and rain chances start to make a return on Saturday. So stay safe over the next few days, my friends! Relief is on the way soon!
