Cold Front Brings Us a Cool Down

Top of the morning, folks! After an active weather day yesterday with some storm and flood threats on top of drowning in the humidity, a cold front brings us a cool down offering some relief.

Significant Below Average High Temperatures

To give a little more background as to what was advertised above, a powerful cold front moved through last night behind those storms we saw yesterday. Behind cold fronts is usually a large swath of cooler air, but this air in particular will offer us way below average temperatures the next couple days for this time in the year.

You can see the cold front is now past us in Virginia, and high pressure is pushing in behind it. (wpc)

For today, expect the high to reach an exceptionally mild 75 degrees accompanied by sunny skies. It doesn’t get much better than that, folks, especially taking in the fact that today marks the second day of the official start of summer.

The HRRR model puts us a few degrees over 75 this afternoon, but the overall trend is that all of Kentucky is seeing well-below average high temperatures today. (Pivotal Weather)

Expect these calm conditions to persist into the overnight tonight and Wednesday as well. Overnight we stay clear with a low of 52, and Wednesday will be a carbon copy of Tuesday except we will find ourselves a few degrees warmer right around 80 degrees.

Heat Returns With Showers By the Weekend

It looks like we will squeeze out one more dry day on Thursday before rain chances return to start the weekend. Thursday we stay clear with a summer-like high in the upper 80s.

By Friday, however, we introduce storm chances back into the forecast which will stick around all weekend long.
