A Quiet Journey Back to 70 Degrees

Good morning, WABBLES! We had a decent amount of cloud coverage yesterday that reminded us of the gloomy, gloomy Mother’s Day. However, clouds are completely cleared out for today which sets the stage for a quiet journey back to 70 degrees.

Temperatures are finally on the rise. Pretty soon, we will be wishing we had this cooler weather back. (Tenor)

Slightly Warmer Day Today

As advertised, clouds will stay at bay today making for a beautiful day under mostly sunny skies. This is thanks to high pressure over northern Indiana. Temperatures climb to a little higher than what we have been seeing lately, 68 degrees, but it’s still below average for this time of the year.

High pressure to our north keeps us a dry even though there is a decent system to our south. (wpc)

Overnight, clouds build back in as result of a passing system to our South. Nothing should come of this for our neck of the woods really at all, however, a light shower is possible after midnight, especially for our southern counties. Winds also ramp up with gusts as high as 20mph possible. The low will dip to around 46 degrees.

Dry the Remainder of the Week

The remainder of the week, and even into the start of the weekend looks downright beautiful, folks. Everyday until Saturday night looks to be mostly sunny with temperatures on the rise. Wednesday we top out around 64, Thursday 66, and and Friday looks to be the day we finally return to the 70s. One thing to note with Wednesday is that it will be quite breezy as fronts progress to our south.

The EURO shows south-central Kentucky flirting with 68 degrees already by 1pm on Friday. (Pivotal Weather)

Shower chances return Saturday and Sunday, but this looks to an isolated event, not looking like a washout at this time. Heck, by Monday, I don’t know if you’ll believe me when I say this but we will be back to chasing 80 as we were in April! Hopefully the start of next week is the turn for consistently warmer temperatures.

The 8-14 day temperature outlook is encouraging as it shows warming temperature anomalies for our region.

Well, that’s all I have for today! Thanks for reading and be sure to follow our live weather feed on Twitter, @wxornotBG, and also on our other outlets. Have a great week.
