Dry Weather Returns to WABBLES

Happy Friday, WABBLES! We started off this week rather warm with highs in the 80s! Rain did make a brief appearance Wednesday into Thursday, but we look to end the week on a high note. Dry weather returns to WABBLES as we move in to the weekend!

Today

If you are headed out early this morning, you may run into some patchy fog across WABBLES. Most locations are clear, but low lying areas will be prone to lower visibilities this morning.

NWS Statement:

**Patchy dense fog across portions of south-central Kentucky will lower visibilities to around a half mile or less at times this morning. Use caution when driving as visibility can rapidly change over a short distance. Low beam headlights are recommended in fog.**

The fog will not stick around for long with sunny skies and breezy conditions expected this afternoon. We should see the fog burn off by lunch time across WABBLES. Temperatures are in the upper-40s and low-50s across the area to kick off this Friday.

Winds will be gusty at times this afternoon with a few gusts up to 25-30mph possible. Winds should begin to relax overnight, but just be extra cautious if you have plans to burn today. Luckily we just had a nice soaking rain across the area.

Temperatures will top out in the mid-70s this afternoon under mostly sunny skies. It is going to be a gorgeous last day of April across WABBLES. Temperatures dip down into the mid-40s overnight as winds relax and the skies stay clear.

If you have plans to plant this weekend. I’d say we are likely in the clear this season from any damaging frost or freeze.

Saturday

You cannot ask for much better weather for Derby day. It is going to be an awesome start to the weekend. Temperatures tomorrow are expected to top out in the mid-upper 70s under mostly sunny skies.

There really is not much more to say about Saturday’s forecast. It honestly speaks for its self!

Sunday

Heading into the latter portion of the weekend the forecast starts to get more dicey. Sunday does not look too bad to start and should be mostly dry. Clouds will be increasing through the day as moisture begins to stream in from the southwest.

Rain should hold off until the late afternoon hours if not the evening. Temperatures will be well into the 70s on Sunday. Activity should remain light to start off, but more rounds of showers and storms are expected into early next week.

Next Week

Multiple rounds of showers and storms are expected early next week with a near 100% of rain expected Monday-Wednesday. Rainfall amounts for the next 5 days is around the 2-3in mark, although all of this will fall over multiple days.

Flash flooding does not look to be a concern right now, but it something we will keep a close eye on. Heading into late next week, cooler air is expected to filter back into the region. Our average high is in the mid-70s right now and we will likely fall short of that mark late next week.
