A Wet New Year’s Day In-Store for W.A.B.B.L.E.S.

Happy Thursday morning, Bowling Green! We are officially on our way out of 2020, as today marks the final day of the year. How will the weather impact your (socially-distanced) New Year’s festivities?

New Year’s Eve

After a rather dreary night, we will awaken on this New Year’s Eve to rather persistent showers across the area, with temperatures starting off right around 40-degrees. As the day goes on, showers will gradually decrease in coverage, becoming isolated by afternoon. Things stay gloomy throughout the afternoon hours though, with highs reaching the middle-40s by afternoon.

As for the evening hours, scattered showers will stick around as you prepare to partake in the New Years festivities. Since temperatures should remain well above freezing, precipitation will be in all-rain form, limiting most travel concerns.

New Year’s Day

Ah, here we are! 2021 is here! The bad news is, the rain chances stick around, at least for one more day. Lows in the morning will be in the low-40s but will rise drastically throughout the day, as blustery southwesterly winds bisect the area, gusting as high as 30 miles per hour at times lead to an afternoon high of around 70-degrees!

Showers and even the chance of an isolated rumble of thunder cannot be ruled out, especially before lunchtime on Friday. Rain chances fall as the day progresses, drying out after sunset once and for all.

The Weekend Outlook:

SATURDAY: Things begin to dry out just in time for the weekend! Temperatures Saturday morning start off around 40 degrees, and rise gradually throughout the day under a mostly cloudy (but dry) sky. Highs should generally top out around the 50-degree threshold.

SUNDAY: With a near-repeat of Saturday’s weather, Sunday will feature more of the same. Temperatures begin in the upper 30s in the early morning hours, under a mostly cloudy sky. Clouds will modestly decrease in coverage throughout the day, resulting in more peaks of sun, and a partly cloudy sky by the afternoon. Highs should top out in the mid-to-upper 40s area-wide.

That’ll wrap things up for this New Year’s Eve edition of the blog. I hope everyone has been able to make the most of this chaotic year, and I would like to wish everyone the best in 2021!
