Weak Disturbance Passes through this Weekend

We are one week away from Christmas, folks! The weather has certainly felt like winter around here with cold temperatures and gray skies. We even had some snow showers across the area yesterday. Although, we have failed at receiving any “measurable” snow this year for at least Bowling Green. Let us take a look at the forecast as a weak disturbance moves through this weekend.

Bowling Green is almost an inch behind on snowfall this year.

Today

We are waking up to temperatures in the upper teens and lower 20s! You might need the ice scraper to remove that frost off your car. Dry conditions are with us and skies are mostly clear.

Cold temperatures this morning .(KYMESONET)

Most of the clouds are off to our east and west. Low-level clouds are currently blanketing far easting Kentucky where temperatures are in the low 30s. We also have high level cirrus steaming in from the west.

Clouds will be on the increase today as our next storm system approaches from the west. We are currently under the control of high pressure, but this will slowly move out as we start the weekend.

Temperatures will top out in the low 40s this afternoon. Dry conditions expected to persist throughout the day before rain chances increases tomorrow.

Weekend Outlook

A weak disturbance will be approaching our area on Saturday. A frontal boundary will produce widespread showers Saturday evening and into the overnight. Here is a look at how this will play out Saturday. Rain does not move in until Saturday evening.

Rainfall totals we will be around a .25 of an inch. Heavier rainfall totals will be just to our south and west. This should all move through by Sunday morning and we will begin to dry out Sunday afternoon.

Christmas Week

As we look ahead to Christmas week the weather pattern will stay active. Right now a majority of the week looks dry until we get to the latter portion of the week.

Storm system to pass through the 23rd-25th time frame.

We will have to see how this pattern trends toward Christmas, but some wet weather will probably show up before the holiday. Once Christmas day roles around and the front passes, temperatures are going to drop. Lows in the teens and wind chills in the single digits are possible Christmas morning.
