Active Pattern Unfolds into the Weekend

Dry weather has been the theme of this week’s weather and it sure has been enjoyable! Good morning and thanks for visiting the blog this morning on wxornotbg.com! The warm weather continues but the quiet weather must come to an end. Let’s take a look at what is yet to come as an active pattern unfolds into the weekend.

Today

We are looking pretty good to start off this Friday across WABBLES. Dry air is still dominating ahead of a strengthening storm system out west. Although, clouds will be increasing this afternoon and into the overnight

The sun will peak through and the combination of warm southerly flow will warm temperatures nicely. Highs this afternoon will approach the mid-60s which is almost 15 degrees above average for this time of year.

Temperatures do not fall much tonight as we only bottom out at 55 degrees. Winds will increase to 10-15 mph with gust up to 30mph overnight. Our storm system is just off the Rockies and will eject out today.

Weekend Outlook

A strong low pressure system is going to track to our north this weekend. That means we will be on the warm side of the system. Rain, gusty winds, and warm temperatures are all on their way. The cold front looks to pass Saturday evening. Here is what we can expect on the radar.

Showers and a few storms will move through tonight and into Saturday. This cold front is going to lose some of its punch so rainfall totals will not be excessive. Anywhere from 0.25-0,.75in of rain is possible. Rain should come to an end Saturday night.

Winds will also be ramping up as the front approaches. Wind gust up to 30 mph will be likely tonight and into tomorrow. Winds should begin to relax Saturday night after the front passes.

Conditions do dry out some come Sunday. That is not before another system arrives on the heels of this one. A week area of low pressure will move out of the southern plains Saturday. Temperatures struggle into the upper 40s on Sunday as cold air wraps around the departing low-pressure system.

The next storm will be tracking to our south so we will be on the cold side. This setup looks like mostly rain right now with temperature profiles still marginal. A mix of rain/snow is still possible Sunday night but impacts look limited as of right now.

Rainfall totals will again remain light with the Sunday night storm. Again temperature profiles will have to be watched for some wet snow. As always, we are watching closely.
