Well, folks, it is Friday the 13th and you would think that means some creepy weather. That, fortunately, is not the case today but this weekend may feature some bumps. A passing storm system does look like it will bring wind and rain for part of the weekend.
Warm Start to November
It has felt much more like early Spring than late fall for the first 2 weeks of November. Here is a look at the temperatures that past eleven days in Bowling Green, KY! Multiple days of 70s and even a few 80s which tied and broke daily records!
A cold front that moved through Wednesday morning has since dropped our temperatures back into the 50s and 60s. This is much closer to the average for this time of year. We did have a few showers Tuesday and into Wednesday which brought close to a quarter of an inch of rain to some areas. This was the first rain we had received for the month of November.
Sun and Mild Temperatures Today
We are waking up to cool temperatures this morning with most locations in the upper 30s and low 40s. Clear skies are overhead, but a weak front is moving through the region. This front is moisture starved so we are not expecting any rain today.
Skies will be sunny this afternoon with temperatures slowly rising into the upper 50s. Winds remain light through the day as high pressure begins to move in from the west. Here is a look at the expected highs across the region.
Tracking a Weekend System
It is that time of year where we have a bunch of moving parts to keep track of across the United States. The tropics are still very much alive and active and now the polar jet is starting to get involved.
Tropical Storm Eta will not be impacting us as it is staying along the Southeast coast. It has dumped a lot of rain across those areas and serious flooding has become a problem. Closer to home we look to stay dry for the next 24- 36 hours until our next storm system arrives.
We will be waking up Saturday with temperatures likely in the 30s with dry conditions. A storm system will be developing off of the Rockies and slowly moving our way Saturday. Clouds will gradually increase, but we will find our way into the 60s Saturday afternoon.
The front will pass through during the early morning hours of Sunday, but not before bringing rain to the region. I do believe that this rain will hold off until after dark Saturday, but a scattered shower cannot be ruled out.
Winds Crank Up Saturday Night
As the front approaches Saturday night winds will rapidly increases across the region. A strong upper-level jet and a tightening pressure gradient will result in wind gusts up to 40 mph. Once the front passes winds should begin to relax over the area.
Winds should be strongest during the overnight areas Saturday, likely between 10pm through 4am Sunday. Wind Advisories may be posted for some areas over the next 24 hours.
Skies Clear Sunday Morning
The cold front will pass through the area early Sunday morning. We should see all of the rain out of here by noon Sunday! Clouds should clear too and we should receive mostly sunny skies by the afternoon.
Temperatures Sunday afternoon will rise into the low-60s with still breezy conditions out there. Winds of 10-15mph will be the common number across the region.
Next Week
Next week looks pretty nice, folks! High pressure will likely dominate through most of next week. Sunny skies and high temperatures near average will make for some decent fall weather.
