Pleasant Weather for the Weekend

Happy Derby Day, Kentucky! Yep, the 146th running of the Kentucky Derby is being run today. While there will be no spectators at the track this year, the weather is going to be amazing. This will be the first time over 146 years that the Kentucky Derby is run in September and with no spectators. Truly a historic race to be run today.

Kentucky Derby Forecast

What a great start to the morning across the commonwealth. It has been a while since we have had morning lows in the 50s. The entire state is actually well into the 50s this AM.

50s across the board this morning.

Radiational cooling as responsible for the cool temperatures with mostly clear skies across the region. We will keep those mostly sunny skies through the day with only a few high-level cirrus.

Temperatures this afternoon will struggle to get into the 80s while topping our right around 80-81 degrees. Calm winds of 5-10mph and dewpoints in the 50s are going to make for an amazing Saturday across the region. Temperatures get back down into the 50s overnight.

Sunday and Beyond

Sunday looks like more of the same except we are bumping up the temperatures a bit. Mostly sunny skies along with highs around 85 degrees will be the forecast for our Sunday. Dew points will slowly creep into the low 60s but still remaining comfortable.

Labor Day Forecast

Labor Day we slowly start cranking up the heat and humidity across the area. Temperatures in the upper 80s and dewpoints approaching 70 degrees will start adding a bit of mugginess in the air.

Conditions will stay dry on Monday with only a few passing clouds. The weather will actually be really great compared to the scorching hot Labor Days we have had in the past.

Next Week

We have an interesting setup that we are watching for next week. A large upper level low will be developing across the Central U.S. later this week and slowly moving eastward. This will likely bring some active weather across the area mid to late week.

We will likely see showers and storm chances start rising as we head into our Wednesday. This will likely turn into widespread activity across the area as we head towards the latter portion of the week.

We will have to see how it plays out, but it looks like humid weather along with rain chances will be returning sooner than later. After this passes, we may see another cool down next weekend.
