Wet and Cooler Week of Weather Ahead

Good Monday morning, folks! It’s a new week, and with that comes new weather! It’s been pretty steamy here lately with the daily dose of pop-up showers, but that looks to change. Now, we can expect a wet and cooler week of weather ahead.

One More Hot Day

Before we get to the big cooldown, we’ll have to get through one more hot and muggy day. We’ll start off under mostly sunny skies with temperatures quickly climbing to around 90°. Heat indices will once again soar into the upper 90’s as well.

Clouds are predicted to slowly take over as the cold front approaches and pop-up thunderstorms develop. (Pivotal Weather)

However, with muggy dew point temperatures comes the chance for pop-up thundershowers in the afternoon, per usual. These should clear out by nightfall as temperatures drop into the low 70’s.

Cold Front Brings Changes

Tuesday is the day that will kick off our wet and cooler week of weather. A cold front will slowly tread southward before stalling right across the state. This will bring a more active pattern to the WABBLES region.

A stationary boundary will set up across the state Tuesday into Wednesday, bringing some unsettled weather to the area. (WPC)

Tuesday will see a higher chance for more organized rain, rather than sporadic pop-ups. Temperatures will also begin a cooling trend, with highs reaching the mid 80’s.

Wednesday will hold a similar forecast, with more chances for rain and highs in the mid 80’s.

Below Average Temperatures Arrive

As we approach the weekend, temperatures will get even cooler. Right now, highs are forecasted to only reach the low 80’s! That’s about 10° below the average for late July.

The ECMWF forecasts Friday’s temperatures to be about 6° below average. (Pivotal Weather)

We can also expect the keep the rainy weather around for the time being too, as the stationary boundary moves very little over the course of the week.

That finishes today’s forecast. Thanks for reading! Follow our live weather feed @wxornotBG, as well as on Facebook, for all your weather updates. Have a great start to the week!
