Summer Storms Threaten This Afternoon and Beyond

Good morning, everyone! Hopefully your day is off to a great start so far. Yesterday we saw a decent amount of storm coverage as a frontal boundary dipped down close to our region. More summer storms threaten this afternoon and beyond as we head deeper into July.

Steamy and Stormy

We’ve recently settled back into a typical summer pattern of lots of heat and running the risk of seeing pop-up storms almost everyday. This pattern will be inclusive of our forecast for today.

The mercury will climb pretty high throughout the day reaching the mid-90s. Along with this, the dew point will make conditions pretty muggy. Put these two ingredients together and we have a conducive environment for pop-up thunderstorms.

These storms will develop late this afternoon with daytime heating as its fuel. The main threats with these storms will be heavy downpours, gusty winds, and frequent lightning. Be ready to adjust afternoon plans if they exist!

Overnight, expect the low to drop to 73 degrees with mostly cloudy conditions.

Big-Time Heat

For Wednesday, the forecast isn’t going to change much. However, the heat index is likely to reach as high as 105 degrees folks. I’m sure I don’t need to tell you how hot this will feel, but it’ll feel HOT! Be prepared and smart if you plan to be outdoors.

Once again, this afternoon, storms will form across the region and run the risk of being severe. The rest of the week looks to be about the same with increased shower chances on Thursday.
