Happy Independence Day, everyone! The United States is officially 244 years old. Nature won’t be firing any of her own fireworks today, so we’ll be free to fire our own! We’ll see a dry 4th of July, then shower chances return.
Toasty Temperatures Today
Summer has definitely arrived in South Central Kentucky, and today will be no different; highs are looking to climb to around 95°! For July 4th, this actually isn’t too far off from average.
We will also see an abundance of sunshine, so it’ll be a great day for any outdoor activities you have planned. But with that comes the need for proper heat protection! Make sure to stay hydrated, seek some shade, and wear sunscreen! Oh, and social distance, too.
Pop-Up Showers Return
As we head into the new week, the humidity will begin to rise again, and with that comes the chance for afternoon pop-up thunderstorms.
Sunday will feature much of the same conditions as Saturday with mostly sunny skies and highs approaching the low 90’s. Dew point temperatures increase as well, meaning it will feel pretty muggy too.
With the muggy conditions, a few isolated showers can’t be ruled out during the afternoon. However, most of the action is looking to stay to the south.
The best chance for afternoon showers comes on Monday as a stationary boundary extends into Kentucky. This will make conditions conducive for some rain development as we work our way through the week.
