Storms Return Later this Afternoon

Howdy, everyone! The weather yesterday gave us a taste of summer with the warm temperatures and sunny skies that dominated the region. However, that dreaded rain moves back into the region as storms return later this afternoon.

Starting Off on Sunday

Waking up, the WABBLES region will rise to partly cloudy skies. However, don’t be fooled, because out ahead of a cold front moving in from the north will be storms developing which will target South-Central Kentucky. As an indicator for the approaching cold front, clouds will thicken as the day progresses.

The high temperature for the day will be 78 degrees along with winds between 8-13mph out of the SW and gusts around 20mph.

When do the Storms Arrive?

I’m thinking to expect storms to arrive in the late afternoon hours/early evening hours. Heavy rain is likely as well some active thunderstorm activity. Currently, the SPC has us under a marginal risk for severe weather. So, this means that there is a little bit of a severe threat with these storms.

The models are having a hard time picking up on some key indicators making it unclear what the exact severe threat we will be dealing with tomorrow night will be. All in all, if things were to lean towards the bumpy side, our main threats will be hail and gusty winds.

Overnight

The system should move out of the region by about midnight and from there, mostly cloudy skies will dominate the rest of the overnight. The low temperature will dip down to about 54 degrees. Precipitation totals from the event will be about a quarter of an inch.

Beginning of the Week

The next system to bring rain will move in Monday night and continue into part of Tuesday. Mid to late week looks to be relatively dry but a bit milder compared to the warm weather we had yesterday.
