The warm weather is making a return in a big way as we look forward to above-average temperatures for the next few days. We have been dealing with the rain every so often and it look to make a return as we are nice today, but storms return Sunday.
Top-Notch Weather Today
You can’t ask for a much better forecast than what we got today. Temperatures look to reach the 80s and clear skies dominate the region.
Winds will be a bit breezy from the south at 10-15 mph helping us reach 83 degrees. Temperatures drop down to the low 60s Saturday night as we stay mostly clear across the area.
Storms Return Sunday
You didn’t think the nice weather was going to stick around, did you? A cold front approaching from the north will bring the potential for showers and thunderstorms on Sunday.
While the day progresses Sunday the cold front will sink south closer to WABBLES. Rain and thunderstorm chances will increase as the front approaches Sunday afternoon.
The SPC has placed us under a marginal risk for tomorrow. There is the chance for a few storms to produce gusty winds and/or large hail Sunday. The model data is having a tough time determining the severe threat for tomorrow. Some of the data does not have severe storms developing Sunday afternoon. While other models show a batch of strong to severe storms moving through mid-day Sunday. I would have to lean towards the idea that we could see a few strong storms tomorrow as this cold front moves through.
Temperatures Sunday will top out near 79 degrees with partly cloudy skies before the rain approaches. We drop down to 55 degrees Sunday night with continued rain chances.
Rainfall Amounts
Overall rainfall amounts will range from half an inch to an inch through Monday morning. Locally higher amounts possible where heavy downpours develop.
We look ahead to next week and we see another round of rain Monday into Tuesday, which could drop another inch or so across the area. Temperatures look to stay near normal with rain chances tapering off by mid-week.
