Sun Returns, but So Does Cooler Temperatures

Good morning, everyone! Welcome to Thursday. We had quite the stormy night last night with lots of lightning and some pretty strong winds, but thank goodness they moved on pretty quickly. With that being said, the sun returns today, but so does the cooler temperatures.

No, this isn’t a sunny day. It’s a bolt of lightning that struck near Franklin last night! So bright it looks like daytime! (Twitter//@wxornotBG)

Windy Conditions for Thursday

With the passage of the cold front last night, the storms have pushed off, the skies are clearing, but it could get a little windy. Winds could reach 15 mph today, but gusts could be higher. This could cause some problems for those with allergies! Gotta love springtime.

Additionally, with the wind blowing from the northwest, cooler air will filter into the Southern KY region. This will cool temperatures off to about 60° today, which is about 20° cooler than yesterday!

A plus side to the wind is that it will help push the clouds out too, so we’ll be left under mostly sunny skies today. Back to the beautiful weather! Big changes will come tonight, though, as we have the really cool air move in. Lows will drop to the mid 30’s, so you might want to think about bringing sensitive plants inside.

Feeling like Fall on Friday

Yes, I said fall. Or early spring if that’s better. Cool air will continue to funnel into our area when the sun rises Friday, with our highs only reaching the mid 50’s. On the plus side, skies will be clear and sunny to kick off the weekend.

Cooler and winder conditions are in store for Friday as a high pressure keeps us sunny. (WPC)

However, Friday night gets cold again, with lows near freezing! This could lead to some patchy areas of frost by the morning hours on Saturday. Cover sensitive plants if needed!

Dry Saturday, but Rain to Close Out the Weekend

Temperatures start to rebound on Saturday as winds shift to out of the south, which will pull in warmer air instead. Highs will climb back into the low 60’s to accompany partly cloudy skies. Lows warm up as well, so frost won’t be an issue.

What one model is predicting for rain on Sunday. It’s only one model, so we could see some slight changes as we get closer to the actual day. (Pivotal Weather)

Things change as we close out the week and our next rain-maker moves in Saturday night into Sunday. The rain looks to stick around for most of our Sunday, but as of now it doesn’t look like anything severe. We’ll keep you updated as we go through the weekend.

That finishes today’s forecast. Thanks for reading! Follow our live weather feed @wxornotBG, as well as on Facebook, for all your weather updates. Enjoy the sunny weather!
