Wet and Windy Days To Come

Good Thursday morning, y’all! Hope you all have been staying dry. As if winter wasn’t wet enough, today marks the first day of spring, which is typically our wettest season. Keep the umbrellas handy, because there are wet and windy days to come.

Gusty Winds Possible Today

The current Storm Prediction Center Outlook has Bowling Green in a Marginal Risk for thunderstorms today, with the stronger storms expected to be off to our west.

Bowling Green will avoid the worst weather today, but showers and gusty winds are still possible. (SPC)

With that being said, most of the wet weather today will be towards the western side of the state, but some scattered showers are possible this morning. Our main weather event will be the wind.

Winds will increase today to around 15 mph, with some gusts as high as 30 mph possible as the low passes by. Otherwise, expect another cloudy March day. However, temperatures will definitely feel spring-like with highs in the mid 70’s! Spring weather showed up right on time.

Storms Return Friday

As we head into the overnight hours on Thursday and early Friday, we could see a line of thunderstorms move through as the cold front drags behind the low.

Current models are predicting the storms to move out by 10 am on Friday. Then we’ll catch a break for most of the day before another round of showers pass in the mid-afternoon. Gusty winds are possible again, so make sure any loose outdoor items are secured!

Ahead of the cold front, temperatures will remain very warm in the low 70’s. However, once the front passes, temperatures will drop nearly 30° as we end up around 40° for the low Friday night!

A Break Comes on Saturday

If you’re getting tired of the dreary weather, then a break looks to be coming on Saturday. The low pressure system finally pushes off to our east, and a high pressure follows behind to replace it.

A high pressure on Saturday will help break up the clouds and give us some much needed sunshine! (WPC)

This will dry us out and break up those stubborn clouds, meaning we’ll have a chance at seeing some sunshine under partly cloudy skies. Temperatures become chilly again, however, with highs around 50°. At least there will be sunshine!

That finishes today’s forecast. Thanks for reading! Follow our live weather feed @wxornotBG, as well as on Facebook, for all your weather updates. Stay dry!
