Opportunity for Dry Weather this Weekend

Good morning, everyone! We’re happy you’re here this morning. Hopefully you haven’t been washed away after all this rain. WABBLES has had our fair share of rain, but thankfully the forecast is calling for an opportunity for dry weather this weekend.

Windy Conditions Today Push Out Stubborn Clouds

This winter, we just can’t seem to shake the clouds. In fact, 60% of January was overcast, according to our friends at NWS Louisville! Unfortunately, the stubborn clouds stick around today, but besides a few early morning showers, we should be dry.

A surface map for today shows the cold front keeping any precipitation off to our east. (WPC)

Any rain is expected to move out by 6 AM, so we’ll be left under mostly cloudy skies for today. Additionally, winds will be whipping out of the NW at near 20 mph behind a cold front expected to pass during the day. The strong winds will help push the clouds out from our area.

We can expect a high in the low 40’s today, but the gusty winds will make it feel a little colder. Definitely a day to bundle up before you head out! After the cold front passes, our low tonight will drop to near 20°.

Sunshine for Valentine’s Day Weekend

If you love sunshine, then you’re going to have a great Valentine’s Day. Once the cold front moves through, we will get a chance at some cloud-free days.

Friday is looking beautiful, but cold, as an arctic airmass follows in behind the cold front and settles over WABBLES. A high pressure will keep clouds at bay, leaving behind beautiful sunshine for Valentine’s Day. However, highs are only expected to reach the low 30’s. Bundle up if you have plans to go out!

Saturday is forecasted to be an even better day than Friday. High pressure remains in control, so we will get a second day of sunshine! Temperatures warm up considerably as well, as we will see highs near 50°. Definitely a good day to take advantage of some nice weather!

Next Round of Rain Quickly Returns

As you would expect, rain is back in the forecast for early next week. Monday night is when we’re expecting the next round of wet weather to roll through. Dry weather was nice while it lasted!

Models are predicting more rain to move in Monday night with a new low pressure system. (Pivotal Weather)

Temperatures also climb back into above-average territory, keeping us mild for mid-February. Highs right now are looking to end up around 60°.

That finishes today’s forecast. Thanks for reading! Follow our live weather feed @wxornotBG, as well as on Facebook, for all your weather updates. Stay warm!
