Good morning, Kentucky, and happy Tuesday! I hope everyone got dried out from all the rain yesterday because we’ve got more in store. Heavy rain headed this way will have us pumped for sunshine on Friday. I’ve got all the details below!
Soggy Morning
As you’re headed out the door this morning, don’t forget the rain jacket and umbrella. Showers will be spread across the WABBLES area and make for a wet commute as a cold front finally pushes off to the east.
Showers will start to lessen or even stop as we reach the late morning/lunch time hours. Lighter showers are possible later this afternoon, so prepare for that on the commute home. Temps will be chilly in the low-40s today, so bundle up!
Excessive Rainfall Possible Tomorrow
As the next system moves into our area, it will bring with it plenty of moisture. We will probably wake up to rain again tomorrow and then chances as well as the intensity of the showers will increase as we go throughout the day.
The Weather Prediction Center has the entire state under a Slight Risk (10-20%) for excessive rainfall tomorrow. This means that our area has a 10-20% “risk of rainfall exceeding flash flood guidance within 25 miles of a point.” By the end of tomorrow, rainfall totals could be around 1-2″.
As the surface low pressure crosses the state during the afternoon, rainfall rates will increase and winds could become gusty. The Storm Prediction Center has the WABBLES area within a Marginal Risk (1/5) for severe weather tomorrow afternoon.
Start Drying Out On Thursday
The rain should start to move out of the area on Thursday morning. Thursday afternoon will bring some much needed drier weather but it will be very chilly as we settle in behind that strong cold front. Highs will still reach the low-40s but the overnight low could drop into the teens.
