Warm and Rainy Conditions Return

Good morning WABBLES and happy Monday! Who is ready to start and endure a new week with me? As we work through the middle part of the week, above-normal temperatures and rainy conditions return to the area.

Time to power through another week!! (Giphy)

Monday

Waking up and heading out the door for your morning commute, you can expect cool temperatures. Might need a light coat as you head out the door. Skies will remain cloudy throughout the day, as winds will be out of the southwest. Southwest winds in the lower and middle layers of the atmosphere will help usher moisture into the region, thus resulting in mostly cloudy skies throughout the day.

A mostly cloudy but mild day in-store. (COD)

Temperatures during the afternoon hours will rise into the middle-to-upper 50s.

Wet Weather Returns

A series of shortwave troughs (relatively weak disturbances in the atmosphere) will move through the region during the middle portion of the workweek. Rain will begin to move into the area during the overnight hours tonight and into tomorrow morning.

Rain chances increase during the overnight hours. (NWS)

The area will experience some rain but most of the activity will remain to the south and east of WABBLES. High temperatures on Tuesday will be very mild for the middle of January, highs will rise into the 60s.

Another weak disturbance will advance across the plains and move into the Ohio River Valley heading into Wednesday. This disturbance will bring back the chance of some more shower activity. Again, just like the Tuesday disturbance, this one will be quick moving and bring with it some light to moderate rain.

Total precip amounts during the middle part of the week. (COD)

Precipitation amounts during the middle part of the week will be light, with the heavier amounts off to the south and east of the area. Temperatures on Wednesday will be similar to what they will be on Tuesday, highs topping out in the middle 60s.
