Good morning, folks and happy Monday! Who is ready to tackle another work week as we move closer to Christmas? Unfortunately, rounds of rain will make for a soggy start to the week.
Rainy Monday
Waking up and heading out the door for your Monday morning commute, I’d advise you to pack the umbrella and take it slow on the roadways. Rain will move into the area during the morning hours as an area of low pressure at the surface moves across the Tennessee River Valley.
The National Weather Service office out of Louisville, KY has issued a Flood Watch for most of WABBLES, with the exception of Butler County. Here’s a snippet from NWS Louisville with their thinking for Monday:
Southern stream wave on Monday will support a surface low that will track NE through the Tennessee Valley late in the day. Where the quasistationary front manages to wave back to the north, we expect a fairly narrow axis of heavy rainfall along the track of the sfc low. The last few model runs have come in farther south and east with this low track, really cutting down the QPF across southern Indiana, where we expect a half to three quarters of an inch. The focus for heavy precip now appears to be from south central Kentucky up into parts of east central Kentucky, where we`ll see 2-3 inches of rainfall, with locally even higher amounts possible.
Rain begins to move out of the area heading into the overnight hours on Monday.
Tuesday’s and Wednesday’s Forecast
Heading into Tuesday, the first half of the day will be on the gloomy side but we will begin to dry out from west to east during the afternoon. Temperatures will be chilly with highs topping out in the middle 30s.
Skies really begin clearing out during the overnight hours on Tuesday as high pressure begins to move into the area. Clear skies and light winds will allow temperatures to drop into the lower 20s.
Skies will remain clear and temperatures will be cool on Wednesday. That wraps up your Monday wxornotBG forecast, thanks for tuning in and I hope you all have a great day and let’s finish the week strong! Make sure you look for further updates on our live weather feed @wxornotbg!
