Hauntingly Cold Temperatures Creep In

Welcome back, everyone! Glad you could make it this morning. South-Central Kentucky has really gotten into the Halloween spirit here lately. The fog rolled through yesterday, and hauntingly cold temperatures creep in today.

All Tricks, No Treats Today

BOO! Did I scare you? Probably not, but today’s weather might. Rain will take up most of our morning as the cold front begins to move through our area. However, we can expect it to pass around lunchtime, ending the rain just in time for Trick-or-Treating. We’ll start our Halloween near 50 degrees, but don’t be fooled, because temperatures will drop throughout the day. We’ll end up around 40 degrees this afternoon.

The cold front passes and brings cold temperatures and gusty winds behind it. Scary! (Pivotal Weather)

It will get windy was well. Sustained winds of around 20 mph, with gusts possibly up to 30-40 mph, will bring back a term we haven’t heard in a while: wind chills. The already cold temperatures this afternoon will feel even colder with wind chills in the upper 30’s. If you’re going out tonight, make sure to dress as warm as possible. Lows tonight will drop into the upper 20’s.

Freeze Warning Through Friday Morning

Very cold overnight Thursday and Friday morning temperatures have prompted a Freeze Warning for all of WABBLES in effect from 10 pm Thursday night to 10 am Friday morning. Sensitive outdoor vegetation will be killed and unprotected outdoor plumbing could take some damage. On the other hand, we can expect a chilly, but sunny, day for our Friday.

Temperatures will top out around the 50 degree mark with much calmer winds. This is about 15 degrees below average for this time of year. Freezing temperatures return, though, Friday night with lows dropping into the low 30’s.

Cool and Dry for the Foreseeable Future

After Thursday’s cold front passes, our weather conditions will improve. A high pressure will keep us dry and sunny on Saturday with highs still below average around 50 degrees. The same story reads on Sunday. However, we will warm up slightly for the start of the new work week into the 60 degree range, which is about average for the start of November.

Rain chances also stay low through most of next week. The next shot at wet weather could come at the end of the week, but that’s too far out to say for sure. Just enjoy the sunny weather for now.

That finishes today’s forecast. Thanks for reading! Follow our live weather feed @wxornotBG, as well as on Facebook, for all your weather updates. Happy Halloween, and eat lots of candy!
