Bowling Green has not observed more than a trace of rainfall in a day since August 27, when a daily record 2.14 inches of rain fell. During much of this time we’ve experienced scorching heat, even breaking into the mid 90s. Good news is that it appears we’ve got chances for cooler temperatures…and a bit of rain…but we remain above average into the weekend.
Yet Another Dry Friday
This is what we call a “persistence forecast,” because things will keep on keeping on as the upper ridge and associated surface high pressure continue to exert dominance on our forecast.
This, of course, means another warm and partly sunny day around the region. The good news, though, is that we’ll keep the humidity at bay, meaning it won’t feel entirely uncomfortable.
Highs look to once again top out near 90º but you may see a couple degrees lower if you run into a cloud or two. It’ll be a windy affair as well, as winds could gust upwards of 20 mph. We’ll remain breezy but dry as you head out to Friday night football, falling through the 70s until we settle into an overnight low near 65º.
Sunnier on Saturday
We’ll cut down on those clouds for Saturday afternoon as yet another warm and dry day is in store for south-central Kentucky.
The high pressure has continued it’s shift off to the east, meaning continued warm weather thanks to southerly winds, though they won’t be nearly as gusty as today.
All-in-all, a mostly pleasant afternoon as low humidity mixes with warm temperatures and mostly sunny skies. Warmer than average? Yes. Perfect for many outdoor activities? Also yes. Moving through the evening, we’ll fall back through the 70s again until we settle near 65º for a low under mostly clear skies.
Dry Day Sunday Before…A Chance for Rain
Our stretch of dry weather will continue into well it’s 26th day before one more glimmer of hope for a shower passes our way.
But before that? Another day of above average temperatures to go along with both increasing cloudiness and increasing humidity.
After another partly sunny day on Sunday near 88º, it’s possible that a passing disturbance could give us the possibility of a shower or storm as we head toward late Sunday night and early Monday. We’re not talking a lot of rain, but a passing shower or storm is possible. Otherwise, headed for a low near 70º or so.
Dry Again, Slightly Cooler for New Week
So, I have good news. No mid 90s in the forecast next week.
The front will be moving through the area during the day on Monday. Shower chances end by early morning, but temperatures stay int he low 80s. Combine that with low humidity on Tuesday and now w’er talking about a nice forecast! Things stay dry as we head into next weekend, with highs slowly rebounding into the mid 80s.
That just about does it for me! Follow our live weather feed @wxornotbg for the latest updates on that possible late weekend rain chance. Have a terrific Friday!
