Howdy folks, and happy Saturday to you all! Hope you’ve had a great week, and enjoying your weekend so far. Who else is wondering where Fall is at? I’m sure looking forward to cooler days, but unfortunately summer-like temperatures will be sticking around.
Gameday…Go Tops!
It’s gameday, and the Tops are playing against the University of Louisville Cardinals today at Nissan Stadium in Nashville. It’ll be another quiet weather day, but you’ll need to pack extra sunscreen and water if planning on going to the game.
You won’t believe it, but a weak “cold” front has passed through the area. While today’s temperatures will be slightly lower than the previous week, they’ll still be toasty.
Afternoon highs will be around 88ºF today, which should be just before kickoff. Winds will be under 10 mph, with plenty of sunshine. Should see some afternoon cumulus clouds develop due to daytime heating, but no rain is expected for our area.
By the end of the game, temperatures will be in the lower 80s. Overnight, temperatures will eventually dip down to around 60ºF, under mostly clear skies.
Sunday Funday
Our afternoon temperatures will creep back up to finish off the weekend. High pressure will be in place behind the cold front, which will keep skies dry…yet again.
Under sunny skies, expect afternoon temperatures to be around 92ºF. Thanks to high pressure, winds will remain light. If any outdoor chores need to get done, today would be the day to do so since Sunday will be warmer. Dewpoint temperatures will be back in the lower 60s, making conditions a tad more humid.
For the evening hours, temperatures will be around 70ºF at sunset. Overnight, skies will remain clear with light winds. Just before sunrise on Monday, temperatures will be around 62ºF. The low temperature usually occurs just before sunrise.
New Work Week, Same Forecast
This forecast is starting to sound like a broken record, as we seem to be stuck in a pattern of hot temperatures, sunny skies, and no rainfall. Another day of high pressure will be in store for Monday, which means sunny skies sticking around.
Afternoon highs will be even hotter on Monday, as they should reach around 94ºF. Dewpoints will be near 66ºF, making conditions even more humid than Sunday. Enjoy that air conditioning, friends!
Overnight, skies will remain clear once again. Low temperatures are expected to be around 65ºF, with light winds.
Extended Outlook
People have been asking, “when will the fall temperatures get here?” Unfortunately, the extended outlooks predict that it may be a while. The Climate Prediction Center’s 6-10 Temperature Outlook (September 19 to September 23) keeps the entire US above normal for this time of year.
Average high temperatures for BG around this time are in the low 80s. Even for the CPC 8-14 Day Temperature Outlook (September 21 to September 27), the entire US is predicted to see above normal temperatures.
That wraps up today’s forecast. Hope you have a great Saturday and rest of the weekend! Make sure to look for the Afternoon Video Update on Facebook and the Afternoon Weather Story on Twitter, only at @wxornotBG.
