Another Scorcher Set for Today

Good morning, friends, and welcome back for another updated blog post. This heat has been persistent, and another scorcher is set for today. Stay weather aware, stay cool, stay hydrated.

A Shower or Two Possible

Well folks, the heat won’t be giving up on us for a while. But the change in the forecast is that we could see a few scattered pop-up afternoon showers and storms. We haven’t seen those in awhile!

Afternoon highs will once again top out around 95ºF, with heat index values near 100ºF. A weak and subtle upper-atmosphere disturbance combined with the daytime heating will give us a small chance of seeing some scattered showers and storms. Winds will remain light and variable throughout the day.

By sunset, convection (storms) will struggle to continue due to the lack of daytime heating. Overnight, skies will be partly cloudy, with calm winds. Temperatures will bottom out around 70ºF.

The Heat is On

High pressure in the southeast will continue to bring uncomfortable heat to the area. Sunny skies will help drive afternoon temperatures up to around 95ºF. Heat index values will also be around 100ºF.

We won’t get much relief from the muggy heat, as the evening hours will be rather warm as well. Once again, low temperatures are only expected to drop to 70ºF under mostly clear skies.

Another Hot Day to End Work-Week

Summertime is holding on tight, and Fall is nowhere in sight. High pressure will once again be sitting over the southeast US. With temperatures around 95ºF, and dewpoint temperatures in the low 70s, heat index values will be in the low 100s.

Unfortunately, hot and muggy temperatures will be staying around for a while. The Climate Prediction Center’s latest 6-10 Day Temperature Outlook indicates well above average temperatures will continue between the September 16-20 timeframe.
