Howdy folks, and welcome back to another wxornotBG blog update. We had quite the gully-washer yesterday, with the Mesonet station at the WKU Farm receiving 3.5 inches of rain! Luckily for us, sunny skies return to finish off the week.

High Pressure Settles In

After a rollercoaster start to the week, much more calm weather returns to the area. High pressure is moving in, which will bring with it sunny skies and calm winds.

Now that the kids are back in school, autumn is just around the corner, which also means chilly nights are coming. We’ll get a little taste of that this week as well as overnight temperatures drop to around 56ºF.

Quiet Conditions Continue for Thursday

No change to the forecast for Thursday as the high pressure will be sticking around over the Ohio Valley.

We will be keeping eyes on the weather models for Labor Day.

The GFS currently hints at some afternoon pop up showers, but it’s only one model at this time. Many changes to the forecast can take place between now and then, so don’t necessarily bet on rain showers for Labor Day…wait until we get closer to Monday.

Otherwise, temperatures look to be in the upper 80s, around 88ºF. We will continue to monitor and analyze the new model runs and keep y’all updated!
