Hot, Hot, Hot Weather Returns for the Weekend

Hey folks! Happy Friday! We have had a, eh, decent stretch of weather the past couple of days. However, hot, hot, hot weather returns for the weekend as humidity turns up a notch.

Decent Friday

On Tuesday, a solid cold front pushed through the region, sparking a thunderstorm complex that weakened as it pushed through during the morning hours of Tuesday.

Behind this front, there were a couple of days of pretty nice dewpoint readings that made the ~90ºF temperatures much more bearable. And we’re looking at more of the same for your Friday!

Without any discernible forcing mechanisms (other than an outside shot at a weakening thunderstorm complex), we aren’t looking at anything more than partly cloudy skies.

I can’t rule out the slight possibility of a shower/thunderstorm, but those chances are low. Highs will be around 90ºF or 91ºF, but with lower dewpoints, it won’t feel too bad out there.

Saturday and Sunday see a Warm Up

As the influence of a previous cold front dies down, we will naturally begin to see a return of the oppressive humidity beginning Saturday afternoon.

We will begin to get winds out of the south and southwest, and just this shift in light winds will help to return dewpoints into the mid 70s. Saturday will be the beginning, and won’t even be the hottest temperature wise.

Expect partly cloudy skies, with highs in the low to mid 90s. An isolated shower or storm is possible during the afternoon hours, as well. That and a pool are the only ways you’ll be able to beat the heat.

Sunday is shaping up to be more of the same, but with a bit of a storm chance during the evening hours, and a bit warmer.

We’re looking at highs approaching the mid 90s on Sunday afternoon. This, combined with dewpoints in the low-mid 70s, will result in heat indices approaching 100ºF. Be sure to take frequent breaks and stay hydrated if you must be outside.

The increased storm chances Sunday evening won’t be increased by much, but they will be there as a very weak front slides our way. It may even have become too weak to discern by Sunday evening, which would lessen the storm chances.

Heat Continues into Next Week

I’ll keep this brief because it needs to be: the heat looks to continue into early next week.

There won’t be a huge reprieve on Monday or Tuesday, as temperatures look to remain in the low 90s with dewpoints in the 70s. This will create miserable outdoor conditions until the evening hours.

By Wednesday/Thursday, though, help may arrive with a solid cold front approaching the region, and clearing out the humidity. It is still a while away, but it could bring some nicer temperatures to the region, too.

That cold front could bring quite a bit of relief to the region by mid to late week. h/t WPC

As always, we’ll keep an eye on it for you.
