New Week Starts with More Summer Weather

Parts of the area were able to get in on between a half and one inch of rain yesterday as scattered summer storms worked their way through south-central Kentucky. After a dry Monday, we can expect more of that around the area as the new week starts with more summer weather.

Dry but Warm on Monday

You might just run into some dense fog out the door to kick off your work week (we do have a Dense Fog Advisory in effect until 9:00am), but once it burns off, we should stay on the dry side…but it will be warm.

High pressure should keep the rain chances at bay during the afternoon hours, but that will allow more sunshine and thus…warmer highs. We should top out around 90° for a high this afternoon with light and variable winds not doing much to cool us off.

A hot and muggy afternoon will lead into a muggy night as well. We’ll stay mostly clear, falling to about 67°.

Scattered Storm Chances Return Tuesday

Our next weather-maker will be knocking on our doorstep by Wednesday afternoon, with more heat and humidity ahead of it.

We’ll see even more heat and humitidy work into the area thanks to southwesterly winds, and that should push highs to around 93° for tomorrow afternoon, and that’s ahead of rain chances. Models indicate the possibility for scattered storms moving in Tuesday afternoon and evening.

These storms will likely be scattered in nature and we can’t rule out some heavy rainfall or gusty winds if you happen to get under one. Storm chances will wane a bit but continue into the overnight hours with lows only falling to around 70°.

Tuesday’s scattered storm chances will last especially through the early morning hours of Wednesday. But the possibility will remain for lingering storms Wednesday afternoon.

Otherwise, highs will top out near 88°, slightly higher if you get some more sunshine. Any storms that form should dissipate overnight as lows drop to 70° once again.

This general theme should continue for the remainder of the work week as a summertime pattern remains in place.
