We closed the first full week of June on a rather loud and stormy note and there’s no reason that won’t continue as we’ve got a stormy weekend ahead.
Showers and Storms Linger into Friday
The latest of many disturbances will be riding it’s way into south-central Kentucky during the day on Friday and that means yet another day of pesky showers and thunderstorms dropping heavy rain on the region.
We’re not looking at much of a severe weather threat with any afternoon thunderstorms, but some gusty winds will be possible along with some pretty heavy rain.
We’ve got a lot of moisture in the atmosphere and it won’t take much to drop a quick inch to inch-and-a-half, especially if storms train. For that reason, the entire area has been placed in a Flash Flood Watch through the weekend.
Abundant cloudiness will definitely keep temperatures milder, with highs staying right about a muggy 79º. Storms will slowly diminish during the evening and overnight hours, but lows don’t fall much below 70º.
Same Tale For Saturday
The word of the day, once again, will be toadstrangler, because those will again be scattered about the area to kick off the weekend. Thank the low pressure to our south that doesn’t want to budge all that much.
Renewed chances for scattered storms with heavy rain will great us as the clock rolls over to Saturday afternoon. It’s going to look a lot like Friday, but trust me, this is Saturday’s forecast.
Again, not a great chance for severe weather but we can’t rule out a strong wind gust or two with your torrential rainfall. And all of this rain can and will add up, causing localized flooding issues (as always, #AvoidFairview). Otherwise, more mugginess with highs again near 80º. Gullywashers continue to roam into the nighttime, too, as we fall to a low near 68º.
Quite the Similar Sunday
Nope, don’t adjust your…whatever device you’re reading this on. Yep, it’s the same forecast.
Scattered showers and storms set up shop again Sunday afternoon as the latest wave of soggy misery enters the region. It’s getting to where I can type “scattered showers and storms” faster than my own name at this point.
Highs stay right around that 80º mark as storms begin to wane overnight, lows closer to 65º.
Break to Start the Week
We start to dial back the storm chances a touch on Monday as a front finally begins to work in. Nonetheless, more widely scattered showers look more likely during the afternoon at this point.
Highs stay around 81º for Monday as storms wane overnight again, lows falling to around 65º. We bring the sunshine back from Tuesday, high near 80º. And not a moment too soon.
