Hello everyone! I’m glad you could join us this morning. As we remember back 75 years ago today to D-Day, we know that weather played a pivotal role in how the events of June 6th, 1944 played out. We remember and thank all of those who bravely sacrificed it all, from soldiers to meteorologists! As for us here in South-Central Kentucky, we will be dealing with some cloudy and rainy days to come.
Rain Chances Increase Today
We saw some showers and thunderstorms move through early this morning and will be exiting our area as the morning continues, leaving behind cloudy skies. Rain chances spread into our area by this afternoon thanks to a low pressure system to our south. This southerly flow will bring dew points into the 70 degree range, helping the development of showers.
Clouds will help keep temperatures cool, so highs will only get to about 80 degrees. Lows tonight will end up in the upper 60’s.
Below Average Temperatures for Friday and Saturday
Rain chances stay high for Friday and Saturday, meaning temperatures will remain unseasonably cool. Temperatures will only get to the upper 70’s-low 80’s degree range. Our average for this time of year is in the upper 80’s.
The SPC doesn’t have us in any severe weather risks, but we could see some localized flash flooding Friday as some thunderstorms could contain some heavy downpours. Friday night we’ll see lows into the upper 60’s before rain returns on Saturday. A strong thunderstorm or two can’t be ruled out this weekend, so we’ll keep an eye on your weekend weather.
The Same Story for the Start of Next Week
Temperatures stay below average as northwesterly winds bring cooler and drier air into Kentucky. Highs will only reach the low 80’s. Rain chances diminish as we start the work week, but the clouds could hang around. It looks more like spring than summer, so take advantage of those cooler temperatures!
