Sun Shines Bright Once Again to Close the Weekend

A cloudy and dreary weekend is now thankfully in the rearview mirror. The steady rain showers that plagued us are moving east and the sun shines bright once again to close the weekend.

Sun’s Back for Sunday

After the chance for a stray shower as you wake up and maybe head off to church in the morning, high pressure will begin to build in, leading to gorgeous sunny skies and wonderfully comfortable temperatures.

By the afternoon hours, you’ll already be caught up on what the memory of what basking in a sun-drenched afternoon feels like because with cooler north winds leading to highs right around 70º, you’ll want to be outside.

Overnight lows, under continuously clear skies, bottom out close to a cool 50º.

Sunshine Stays with Warmer Days

Monday is going to be one of those days that’s all too common in the spring. Grab that light jacket in the morning, but you’ll want to get rid of it quick because warm temperatures will make a return in the afternoon.

High pressure, while still in control, will shift east. This means we’ll continue with the lively weather and we’ll get an increase in that thermometer to boot.

Southerly breezes will allow us to warm up into the upper 70s to near 80º for Monday afternoon. Finally, back to conditions I’d expect for early May. Humidity levels won’t be too bad out there either, and that will allow nighttime lows to fall to around 60º under partly cloudy skies.

Clouds Encroach Tuesday

The first hints of atmospheric unrest will make themselves known as we start our Tuesday. Things will remain dry and the sun will still be shining but it will be shining through increasing cloudiness as the next system out in the plains slowly moves in.

This next system will be one of several that will be responsible for unsettled weather as we enter the back half of the week. But for Tuesday, we’ll stay dry with a high around 82º. We may sneak a shower or storm into the picture overnight and into early Wednesday with a low around 62º.

Unsettled Pattern Returns Late Week

Turning our attention to the weather in the more distant future, we’ll be dealing with several storm systems that will touch off chances for rain and storms for Wednesday, Thursday and potentially Friday.

The thinking now is more scattered hit-or-miss storms for Wednesday, with an increase in storm chances for the day on Thursday. Some of the storms could even be on the strong side Thursday.

The cold front will move through late on Thursday and hopefully leave us with drier conditions as we head into Friday for WKU commencement ceremonies. We’ll, of course, be keeping a close eye on that.

High temperatures during this period should flirt around 80º for Wednesday and Thursday with cooler temperatures in the 70s entering in behind that front for Friday.
