Midweek Sunshine Gives Way to Late Week Storms

It’s been a pretty beautiful week so far with a cool Monday and an equally beautiful but warmer Tuesday. We keep the warm weather for your Wednesday but that midweek sunshine gives way to late week storms.

Warm and Windy Wednesday

The warmth of Tuesday meets a bit of windiness as we turn the calendar to midweek. We’ll spend today ahead of the next storm system gathering steam in the plains.

It’s another one of these strong low pressure systems that’s going to give us a chance storms later this week. But ahead of it, more sunshine and gorgeous weather.

Southwesterly breezes will keep us warm for the afternoon, with a high pushing the 80º mark. Clouds will begin to make a slow comeback late in the day and into the nighttime hours as that storm system draws ever closer. Lows overnight finish near 60º.

Storms Return Thursday

That low pressure system will draw closer for the day on Thursday, throwing clouds and showers our way, especially later in the day.

The million dollar question is whether or not these storms could be strong to severe…and the answer is…it’s possible.

Right now, most of the area is in a Marginal (or 1/5) Risk of severe weather. I think the greatest threat for severe weather right now is south of our region where the better ingredients are. Does that mean we can’t see a strong storm? No, but the threat is higher south. We’re definitely keeping a close eye on it.

Otherwise, it will be a breezy day, with that low so close. Southwesterly breezes of 10-20 MPH will be possible with gusts upwards of 30 MPH. Highs, even under the clouds will still be north of 70º. The front will move through overnight regardless, with a low of 50º overnight.

Showery and Cooler for Friday

Things get chillier to close the week as what’s left of the low continues to swirl to our north and keeping us showery as well.

Friday highs will barely make 60º with the on-and-off post-frontal showers in addition to some gusty northwest breezes. Definitely a day for the windbreaker. Showers will start to wane overnight…but not go away completely as we fall to a low of 40º.

Drying Out for a Nice Weekend

Things will definitely begin to improve as we head into the all important Easter Weekend.

Saturday may start out on the showery side but we’ll start to clear off by the afternoon. Highs stay below average though, only making about 64º. We break sunshine back out for your Easter Sunday…perfect for those outdoor Easter egg hunts. Highs look to top out in the mid-70s.
