Quiet and Warmer Before Wet Weekend

Good morning south-central Kentucky, don’t let the clouds get you down as today we will be quiet and warmer before a wet weekend. Instead of 30’s, highs will reach the 40’s while moisture builds into our region.

Bundle up one last time as we will start the morning in upper 20’s before a much celebrated return to the upper 40’s. Today will be dry although clouds will build in throughout the afternoon leading to a chance of some showers overnight.

Earnest chances of showers start after midnight as temperatures once again drop into the upper 30’s. Luckily, we will stay above freezing all night which will leave any wintry weather concerns farther to our north.

Remember that super-wet February month which recently ended? Its sequel called March continues tomorrow featuring more chances of light rain showers.

I'd pack an umbrella for sure tomorrow.

Meanwhile, temperatures stay in upper 40’s.

A low pressure system will be moving off to our northwest on Saturday, perhaps setting the stage for some severe weather. At this point, thunderstorms are likely to form in the afternoon and evening with the greatest severe risk concerning lines of storms producing high winds.

Another concern will be flash flooding since the ground may be saturated from Friday’s rains and storms with heavy rain are likely. The rains will clear out by about midnight Saturday. At least the high on Saturday will be in the mild mid 60’s.

Quiet Sunday Through Tuesday

High pressure returns Sunday providing us a warm and welcome break from the rain and cold.
