Rain and Light Snow Likely Tomorrow

Hey folks, get ready for some active weather as we have rain and light snow likely for tomorrow. This winter storm will be sandwiched between mild weather today and an Arctic blast which will continue through Wednesday.

Gloomy But Dry Today

Watch out for that pesky fog this morning if you plan to start your preemptive bread and milk run early. We will remain dry, cloudy, and stuck in the mid 40’s for our gloomy but sedate Saturday.

Rain and Light Snow Likely Tomorrow

After some time off, winter looks to return in the form of a winter storm tomorrow. Here is the breakdown:

• Onset Timing: The precipitation will start as rain after midnight tonight before transitioning to snow during the afternoon. This rain would wash off any pretreatment on the roads which could make traveling conditions worse tomorrow evening.

• Precipitation Type: Rain will transition directly to wet snow with no freezing rain or sleet in between.
• Temperatures: Falling from the upper 30’s in the morning to the upper 20’s by the early evening. We might have several hours from the late morning to early afternoon where snow will stick on grass but not roads.

• Duration: The heaviest snow will exit our area to the east by the late evening. Lighter snow showers and flurries could continue through Monday morning.
• Worst Road Conditions: Early evening due to colder temperatures. Be careful if you have to get out and pack an emergency kit just in case.

• Snowfall Accumulations: 2 in.-dusting with highest amounts likely to be in Butler and Edmonson Counties.
• Confidence: Snow lovers rejoice as we will see flakes tomorrow. However, how many of these flakes will actually stick is still up in the air as cold air may not move in quick enough to defeat March’s high sun angle. Differences still exist in the weather models which will hopefully reach a clearer consensus by the end of today.

Arctic Blast on the Heels of Snow

By Monday morning wind chills will plummet to the single digits while actual air temperatures chill in the upper teens. It could be so cold that the road salt will not work very well, so plan for poor road conditions depending on the amount of snow we receive Sunday.

Although sunshine will return, highs from Monday through Wednesday will barely reach freezing. Therefore, any accumulating snow we get tomorrow will be refreezing each night in the teen degree air.
