Gordon’s Remnants Lead to Soggy Weekend

The remnants of tropical systems are nothing new around these parts and we’re going to have to deal with them again. Unfortunately on a busy weekend throughout south-central Kentucky as Gordon’s remnants lead to a soggy weekend.

Fri-YAY Blues

The end of the week will play out very similarly to the last few days, which means more muggy weather and scattered thunderstorms.

Much like yesterday, the combination of plenty of heat and humidity and the moisture from the remnants of what was once Gordon will give us another shot at scattered afternoon thunderstorms.

These are going to be pretty efficient rainfall producers too, with some heavy rain possible if you get caught under one.

Highs will be kept down by the extra cloud cover around, somewhere in the mid-to-upper 80s but with dew points well into the 70s, things will be very muggy.

And that’s only a sign of things to come.

Soaker of a Saturday

Gordon is here and in full force has the remnants travel along a stalled frontal boundary and give our rain chances a quick rise.

We’ve got plenty of outdoor events this weekend, including the WKU home opener and the attendant concert beforehand and so, I suspect plastic ponchos will be fashionable later tomorrow.

Heavy rain is looking increasingly likely, but it will certainly not rain all day. Temperatures will also stay in the mid-80s, thanks to the overcast skies. Chances for showers and storms will continue through the overnight hours, with warm lows in the still near 72º.

Sunday’s Repeat Performance

The duet of a stationary front and Gordon’s left-over moisture will continue will shower chances to close out the weekend.

These two will hang out and keep us on the soggy side throughout the day on Sunday. The only good news seems to be that this will prevent sunshine from making this a hot and muggy day. No, it’ll just be muggy.

Highs will end up in the lower 80s because of said cloud cover, while nighttime lows stick around 70º with showers tapering during the overnight.
