Beautiful Weather Until an Active End to the Week

Good Wednesday morning everyone! Hope we’re all doing wonderful this week, and I really hope your week is rolling along smoothly. We are looking at beautiful weather until an active end to the week, so buckle up and get ready for the forecast!

Breath of Fresh Air

If you walk outside this morning, you will notice *considerably* less humid air out there. Like, dewpoints are in the low 60s. This is the airmass we have been waiting for forever.

The weak cold front that had provided storm chances since Sunday has now passed to our south, and is now traversing middle Tennessee.

Thankfully, northerly flow has been initiated by the passing of a surface cold front. h/t COD Weather

It is amazing, folks! And expect that for the next couple of days. Get outside and enjoy it, if you feel the need to! 70ºF dewpoints won’t return until Friday, so it is looking pretty amazing outside.

For the next couple of days, we’ll still be warm outside. Don’t get that confused. But instead of it feeling like a sauna every time you step outside, it’ll feel nice and dry.

Look for highs to be in the upper 80s and lower 90s for both today (87ºF-88ºF) and Thursday (89ºF-91ºF).

Severe Storm Potential Friday

After a couple of beautiful days, you knew it had to end sometime, right?

A major trough of low pressure will approach the region on Friday and Friday afternoon. This will do a few things:

  • A strong low pressure system will develop to our north.
  • Moisture will be drawn into the region, helping to create instability.
  • Winds will increase in the mid and low levels of the atmosphere, creating wind shear.
  • A cold front will approach the region Friday afternoon, and will interact with the above environment and force thunderstorms.

Friday looks like the best chance at organized severe weather that we have had in a couple weeks. The SPC has placed us in a Slight Risk for severe storms because of it.

The greatest threats look to be large hail and damaging winds, but an isolated tornado can’t be ruled out either. The main timing looks to be anytime between 4 and 10 pm right now, and that may expand over the next couple of days.

Just stay weather aware if you have any plans on Friday evening, as severe weather is a possibility. Highs look to be in the upper 80s and lower 90s, as well.

Much Cooler Weekend

Once we get through Friday, the trough of low pressure looks to come close to parking itself either over us, or just to our east.

This will create some incredible weather for this weekend. I am talking incredible. Clouds, showers, and we may even have a day that we only get into the 70s!

We’ll have more on this as we get closer, but I wanted to let you know that this weekend looks really nice!
