Good Sunday morning, folks! Hope everyone has been having a wonderful weekend. Most of us are waking up to a clap of thunder and some rain out there. Expect this to continue as storm chances lead into cooler weather this week.
Sunday Umbrella = Necessary
You’ll notice that, as I write this and you read it, that there is already a nice dose of thunderstorms outside this morning.
This is out ahead of a weak disturbance in the atmosphere to our north. It is forcing enough lift to develop these thunderstorms this morning. No severe weather is anticipated; but look for heavy rain and lightning.
The storm chances will remain today, as there won’t be much to keep the storms at bay, and there is weak lift present. It won’t be a washout, but numerous thunderstorms should dot the radar this afternoon.
Highs today are expected to be in the mid to upper 80s (86ºF-88ºF), which is much nicer than the 95ºF temps we were seeing yesterday!
Expect the storm chances to continue overnight, as we’ll be within the lift ahead of the weak system/front.
Just Another Manic Monday
Monday is looking pretty stormy, as well. It won’t be terrible, but the start to your workweek will at least feature a chance at an afternoon storm cooling you off.
A weak cold front will be slowly sinking towards the region during the day Monday, and likely won’t make it through our region. Expect scattered storms to develop in response to this.
These storms aren’t expected to be severe, but they will likely produce heavy rain and lightning. And we really aren’t expecting a washout again, but it’ll be like a lot of summer days.
Highs Monday afternoon should be in the upper 80s and lower 90s (89ºF-90ºF).
Tuesday Trends Toward Terrific
Ahh, yes, alliteration! It’ll get caught in your mind, and remind you that Tuesday really does trend towards niceness.
The cold front will finally begin to sag towards our south, and usher in a nice Canadian high pressure system. Before that, though, guess what? You guessed it; storm chances are present.
These aren’t as great as they are today or Monday, but they will be present across the region. Rinse and repeat; heavy rain and lightning are anticipated to be the main threats.
Highs Tuesday are expected to be in the upper 80s (87ºF-88ºF). By Wednesday, though, the high pressure system will be settled into the region, bringing much relief from the annoyance of summer temperatures.
Highs are expected to be in the mid and upper 80s, but a dip in humidity will be the biggest relief. By Thursday, we may be staring at a major rainmaker for the weekend…which may lead to a significant cool down. Stay tuned!
