Heat to Continue, Despite a Small dip in Humidity

Hey everyone! Hope you’re all having a wonderful week. Tomorrow is FriYAY, so the weekend is on the horizon. Unfortunately, expect the heat to continue, despite a small dip in humidity.

Ineffective Cold Front

Yesterday, a weak cold front pushed south-southwesterly through the region, ushering in some “less” humid air into the region.

Dewpoints decided to drop from the mid 70s into the mid and upper 60s, where they now reside. Yes, it is a bit better than the mid 70s. But even so, it won’t make a *huge* difference in how it feels outside.

Plus, we have another ridge of high pressure beginning to build into the region. That cold front truly was pretty lame.

Expect highs in the low to mid 90s (92ºF-93ºF) across the region this afternoon, under partly cloudy skies.

Heat to Build into the Weekend

The same ridge of high pressure that will be making your outdoor plans today miserable will only build as we head into Friday and Saturday.

The ridge looks to center itself over our region on both days, leading to hot and relatively humid conditions. Dewpoints are expected to creep back into the low 70s again, which will bring heat indices into the upper 90s and lower 100s again.

I do think that Saturday will be the hotter of the two days, but generally expect low to mid 90s (93ºF-95ºF) for highs across the region for the tail end of your week and beginning of your weekend.

I know that sounds terrible, but just take it easy if you have to be outside. Limit strenuous activity to the evening, and drink plenty of water!

Afternoon conditions are expected to be partly cloudy, but an isolated storm or two can’t be ruled out either day. That would be helpful in cooling us down.

Stormy Sunday

After several days of hot conditions, storm chances are expected to increase during the day on Sunday. A disturbance in the atmosphere will approach the region and create a chance for thunderstorms.

Don’t expect a complete washout, but it looks like storm chances will be present during much of the day on Sunday. The good news is that this should help keep highs in the upper 80s.

As we head into early next week, the pattern looks as if it is shaping up to favor daily chances at storms and storm complexes. The forecast will be highly dependent on those, but I would expect highs in the upper 80s.
