Good morning south-central Kentucky, expect some isolated thunderstorms to spring up this afternoon while temperatures peak in the upper 80’s.  Scattered showers on Memorial Day become even more widespread on Tuesday due to Tropical Storm Alberto making rain chances increase as tropical system approaches.

Today you might need your sunscreen and umbrella as sunshine dominates until about 1 p.m. when isolated pop-up storms start forming.  With limited wind shear, no storms are expected to be severe.

Oh yeah, and it will feel like about 90 all afternoon in the hot, humid air.  Luckily pools and air conditioning have been invented to beat the heat.

As shown by the above graphic, the tropical storm forecast to make landfall in the Gulf of Mexico tomorrow will usher more moisture into Kentucky.  This will increase our chances for scattered thundershowers, especially in the afternoon.  Leave to a tropical storm to crash your outdoor Memorial Day plans.

The rain will keep temperatures in the low 80’s for highs tomorrow, so there is one silver lining.

The remnants of Alberto will pass through or close to our region Tuesday and into Wednesday.  Expect rain showers with some claps of thunder on Tuesday, and highs will hang around a more comfortable 80 degrees because of all the rainfall.
