Nice weather before a wet weekend

Posted by Landon Hampton on Wednesday, May 2, 2018

Hot temperatures are expected ahead of a cold front later this week. High pressure to the southeast and low pressure to the northwest of the region is leading to southwest surface flow, pumping temperatures into the mid 80s once again today.

Overnight lows will remain mild and drop back into the mid 60s under partly cloudy skies.

Hotter Thursday

A hot day is expected on Thursday. Temperatures look to be even warmer as southwest flow remains well established across the region. Temperatures should warm into the upper 80s. I’m beginning to wonder if we skipped Spring entirely?

A few isolated showers may be possible late Thursday night and into Friday morning. Lows will be in the mid 60s once again.

Rain Chances Friday

The main rain chance arrives on Friday as a cold front approaches the region from the northwest. We’ll still have southwest flow throughout the day, so temperatures will warm into the muggy low 80s with rain sticking around.

A few thunderstorms may be possible during the afternoon, evening, and overnight hours. We’ll monitor for severe storms, however the risk appears small at the moment, with a better chance to the north. Lows will drop back into the low 60s.
