Old Man Winter Isn’t Finished With us yet

Relatively Mild Sunday

Hey folks! Hope everyone is having a great weekend. This day is going to be one of the more wild days that we have experienced in quite a while weather wise. It looks like Old Man Winter Isn’t Finished With us yet!

We’re waking up to partly or mostly cloudy skies across the region, with temps in the lower 40s. Cloud cover will only thicken throughout the day, with increasing rain chances. Even so, we are expecting highs in the mid 50s.

Rain will begin falling this afternoon/evening, and this is where everything begins to get a bit crazy.

Heavy Snow EXPECTED Tonight

Yes, you read that right. Our highs are expected to rise into the mid 50s, and then we are looking at the likelihood of heavy snowfall tonight.

The rain that will impact us this afternoon is expected to change over to snow within a 2-3 hour window, and then fall as snow the rest of the event. This will be on the northwestern side of a surface low moving through Tennessee.

A look at how this event may play out:

As a result, the NWS in Louisville has issued a Winter Weather Advisory from 7 pm this evening through 7 am Monday morning for the entire area.

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 7 pm this evening until 7 am Monday morning.

We are expecting 1-4″ of snow (with isolated higher amounts possible) across the region. Even while we are confident in snow happening, amounts are still a question. There is still a lot of uncertainty involved.

Because we’ll be right around 32°F, there will be a very thin line between rain and snow. I do think accumulations will happen, and should fall fast enough to impact travel, especially on side roads.

Be sure to stick with us today. We’ll likely have an update later on today with any new information for this.

Chilly Start to the Work Week

For your Monday, clouds should gradually clear out as our forcing for the rain and snow moves off to our east and northeast.

By the afternoon, some low level clouds are expected to develop again, with highs getting into the mid 40s. Overnight lows should fall into the low 30s.

Tuesday looks very similar to Monday. Cool, partly sunny, a bit breezy, and highs rising into the upper 30s. It will truly feel like Old Man Winter’s last stand.
