Winter Weather Advisory Issued For South Central Kentucky

In response to growing confidence regarding a wintry mix impacting the region overnight, The NWS has a Winter Weather Advisory issued for south central Kentucky. The advisory is currently in place, and will lasts through 6am Monday morning.

Only light accumulations, if any, are anticipated, however, with temperatures falling 4-6˚ below freezing (we’re already in the low 30s as of 8pm), anything that falls may stick to surfaces and roadways. The latest HRRR shows the narrow band of freezing precipitation moving through between ~9pm and 2am Monday:

This will obviously raise concerns for travel throughout this time period. If you’re traveling anytime for the remainder of tonight through the Monday morning commute, please be aware that roads may be slick.

Temperatures will quickly climb above freezing Monday, as clouds begin to erode out. By mid afternoon, temperatures will be located in the mid 40s. Travel should improve greatly as the day progresses.
