Foggy Start to a Mild-ish Day
A quick glance from Windy’s Nest at WKU shows fog firmly in place as you head out the door this morning. Give yourself some extra time on the way to your destination this morning.
Kind of a fitting start to a day where sunshine will be at a premium thanks to what’s left of a weather system working it’s way through the region…mostly in the form of said clouds.
However, today’s big story will be the milder temperatures. Yesterday’s clouds and rain kept our temperatures from moving a whole lot, today though…not the case. Southwesterly winds have kicked in ahead of our next storm system and they’ll give us highs pushing the 50º today.
We’ll keep those mostly cloudy skies with us into the night as we only fall back to around 40º for a low.
More Rain on the Way for Tuesday and Wednesday
Mostly cloudy skies and mild temperatures continue to be the theme heading into Tuesday. Southwesterly flow will still be with us as well, as it pushes highs near the 60º mark for Tuesday afternoon. This is all ahead of another disturbance in our active weather pattern bringing the chance for rain mainly tomorrow evening.
This system won’t be unlike the one that affected us yesterday with on-and-off showers, except it looks like the rain should stay confined to the overnight hours Tuesday into Wednesday before beginning to taper through the morning. Our rain chances should be over by Wednesday evening.
Temperature-wise, the rain should hold us down and keep us from getting as mild as Tuesday. Highs look to top our between 45-50º. Skies will begin to clear heading into Wednesday night, allowing us to fall back to near 35º for an overnight low.
Looking Ahead
The first day of astronomical winter is upon us on Thursday and it looks none too wintry, with temperatures pushing near 60º once again…but it looks mostly sunny for now.
Christmas weekend still looks to have the possibility for some wintry precipitation but they continue to look less and less impressed with our chances for Christmas proper but the cold air seems to be making a comeback into next week…so stay tuned.
