Black Friday Weather Update

Temperatures, Much Like Retail Sales, Rise on Friday

Thanksgiving was a chilly day around the area, with temperatures struggling to make it out of the 40s around much of the area, luckily Black Friday looks to be muuuuuch nicer.

South-central Kentucky stays under the influence of high pressure just off to our east…and that means warmer temperatures.

With the high pressure of to the east, that means we’ll experience southerly winds throughout the day, allowing temperatures to warm nicely. After a cold wake up temperature in the lower 30s, temperatures will recover to near 60º under mostly sunny skies.

A cold front will begin moving toward the area later at night, leading to thicker clouds and slightly warmer but still cool low temperatures in the lower 40s.

Dry Front For Saturday

The aforementioned cold front will begin to slide through the region early in the day tomorrow but a lack of moisture will keep us dry with just a few clouds and maybe a sprinkle or two.

The breeze will shift from the south to the northwest, indicating cooler breezes and slightly cooler temperatures that we’ll see more of on Sunday. Clouds will be on the decrease throughout the day with mostly sunny skies taking over for the afternoon and highs in the mid-to-upper 50s. Clear skies will continue overnight as we fall back to the mid-30s.

Cooler Close to Thanksgiving Weekend

Northwest winds will keep highs cooler as we head for Sunday, with temperatures now only topping out in the lower-to-mid 50s but we’ll keep the mostly sunny skies overhead so it can’t be all bad, right?

Skies remain clear overnight and that should allow us to easily get to frost territory once again Sunday night as temperatures fall to near the freezing mark.

Into Next Week

The forecast early next week looks similar to the weekend with mostly sunny skies and temperatures in the mid-50s to lower-60s.
