Headline
Happy Friday the 13th, folks! I’m not celebrating because these days are pretty dang creepy, but that is okay! The headline is almost assuredly going to be the dense fog being seen across the region.
Its crazy! We have light winds and we lost the cloud cover last night, and this has allowed very thick fog to develop this morning. Once the sun come up, the fog should begin to dissipate as temperatures increase at the surface.
Just be sure to take it easy on your drive to work or school this morning. We are under a Dense Fog Advisory until 8 am this morning.
After this? Well, the forecast is tough. We have been in a weather rut the past couple of days, as surface temperatures have been cooler than temperatures a 1000ish feet off the ground.
This has kept moisture trapped near the surface, and has played a part in allowing this fog to develop today. It looks to remain present across the region this morning, and may make it tough to dissipate the fog completely.
It is something to watch for as it would keep our temperatures much cooler today. Because of this uncertainty, I’ll reflect it in having slightly cooler highs for this afternoon.
Tomorrow is looking fantastic, by the way. If you’re heading to WKU’s homecoming game, anticipate partly cloudy skies, and highs in the low to mid 80s.
On Sunday, a cold front will approach from the northwest by late morning, bringing light showers, breezy conditions and more cloud cover.
The Forecast
Today: Dense fog early, gradually clearing by this afternoon. Highs around 70°F. Overnight, look for partly cloudy skies, with lows around 54°F.
Tomorrow: Patchy fog possible early, with partly cloudy skies in the afternoon. Highs around 83°F. Overnight, look for mostly cloudy skies developing, with lows around 68°F.
Sunday: Cloudy and breezy, with scattered showers expected. High of 71°F early, falling into the low 60s in the evening. Overnight, look for partly to mostly cloudy skies, with lows around 44°F.
