The Headline

The good news is that we’re getting another reprieve from the sticky air with a (mostly) beautiful weekend on tap, but it comes with a rain chance first.

Pretty much. (Giphy)

Get ready for almost fall-like conditions for your Saturday…bookended by rain.

The Details

We’ll start off today with a cold front right on our doorstep.

Knock knock. (Weather Prediction Center)

And ahead of the front, we’re going to see some showers and thunderstorms begin to bubble up, mainly early today.

The Hi-Res NAM sees a line of showers and storms developing and approaching this morning. (Pivotal Weather)

In fact, we’re already seeing some out ot our west this morning, showing up nicely on the White Squirrel Weather Nest Cam.

Those thunderstorms could be on the stronger side, we’re in a marginal risk for severe storms today with damaging winds as the main threat.

The upside is that you’re going to feel the effects of this front in a hurry, as soon as this afternoon. And you’re really gonna feel it tonight.

Today:  Cold front throws some showers and thunderstorms our way, especially through around midday before things begin to improve for the afternoon. High right around 80°. We clear out at night and drop all the way down into the upper 50s!

  • Wake up: 🌩 68°
  • Lunch hour: 🌩 78°
  • Afternoon plans: 🌩/🌤 80°
  • Evening time: 🌤 73°

Saturday is going to feel like you moved to a completely different part of the country.

Saturday’s weather makes me want to race Chevy Chase in an outdoor venue. (Giphy)

We’ll be under the influence of a wonderful piece of Canadian high pressure behind the front and that means just pure weather awesomeness.

The Big Blue H is a recurring cast member in my forecasts. (Pivotal Weather)

That means the humidity’s low, the sunshine is plentiful and the outdoor activities are almost required…so get out there!

Tomorrow:  Utterly brilliant! Beautiful sunshine, low humidity and pleasant temperatures right around 82°. Cloud cover begins to increase overnight, and we fall to only the lower-60s.

  • Wake up: ☀ 59°
  • Lunch hour: ☀ 78°
  • Afternoon plans: ☀ 81°
  • Evening time: 🌤 74°

Things begin to change again starting late Saturday night as another system makes its way closer to the region.

Can the weather stay nice for more than 24 hours at a time, please? (Giphy)

Initially the system is going to throw more clouds our way very late Saturday night and into Sunday morning.

Approximate frontal position late Sunday night. (WPC)

As the front approaches later in the day, rain chances are going to go up along it, especially Sunday evening and overnight.

What the radar could look like Sunday evening. (Pivotal Weather)

Eventually, this front could get hung up in our area, providing rain chances even into the new work week. But enjoy this weekend while you can.

Sunday:  More clouds with increased humidity. Scattered showers and thunderstorms, especially later in the day. Highs topping out back in the middle 80s. Off and on storm chances continue overnight, only falling to around 70°.

  • Wake up: ☁ 64°
  • Lunch hour: ☁ 80°
  • Afternoon plans: 🌩 85°
  • Evening time: 🌩 78°

The Bottomline

  • Scattered storms possible especially early today, a couple could be strong.
  • Humidity craters by this evening behind a cold front.
  • Saturday = Exquisite.
  • More storms possible, especially late in the day.
